Our Mission
To provide a welcoming and supportive environment for dancers to perform and bring inspiration to the greater community.
Background
The current iteration of Beats Redux is actually an extension of an Olympia tradition started in 2011 as Beats Euphorium by Wolf (Rebecca Bird). She wanted to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for dancers to perform. It began at the South Pacific Restaurant, moved to the Urban Onion and then to Ben Moore’s Restaurant and Pub.
When Wolf moved to another state in 2016, tap dancer extraordinaire Laurel stepped up to keep the tradition alive and the new endeavor became Beats Redux. In 2018, Amira joined Laurel to co-produce the show and in 2019, the show found its new home on the warm and intimate stage in Octapas Cafe's backroom performance space.
We are so grateful to our kind and enthusiastic audience members, the many dancers who grace the Beats stage and endlessly inspire, and to the generosity and community-mindedness of Octapas Café, and we look forward to many more incredible shows to come.
